On Friday,arch 12 from 5:30 to 8 pm Coolidge Elementary School PTA will be having our annual
Fun Fair.  It is an opportunity for students, families, and staff to come together
and build a greater community within our school and raise money at the same time. 
We have food, games, door prizes, and raffles.  The money is used to help support
our school.  In the past, the money has been used for playground equipment, an air
conditioner for our gym, books, technology, and fulfilled requests from staff
members.  Any donation is greatly appreciated in helping with our children's education!  

On Saturday,
March 6, the 21st annual "Dance for Life" will be held at the Knights of Columbus
building at 5650 Kacena Ave in Marion.  All proceeds will benefit Birthright of
Cedar Rapids, a non-profit pregnancy care center.  Birthright offers free pregnancy
tests, and referrals for professional care, as well as maternity vouchers and baby
welcome baskets.  All services are free and confidential.
The Dance will include free refreshments and door prizes as well as entertainment
and a silent auction.  Many businesses in the area participate in this worthwhile
and enjoyable evening.  Tickets are $7.00 for age 5 and above.
We would welcome any donations this year!  Last year Planet X was kind enough to
donate a $15.00 gift certificate!

Dakota was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was just four months old she
relapsed at 9 months of age and successfully battled six months of chemotherapy into
No Evidence of Disease (NED) status.  Unfortunately after almost two years
cancer-free, she relapsed again.  She is Stage IV High-Risk at this time, and is
currently going through an extensive treatment protocol in New York.
